She was born in Elaboun village ( Nazareth district ) , learned in the schools of the village and finished its secondary school “ Galilee Christian High School “ .
By the end of 1980 she traveled to the USSR to study art . she studied in one of the high schools art in the town Kharkov ( in Ukraine ) for three years , and got a diploma . Then , at the end of 1984 she moved to Moscow , the capital of Russia , to continue her studies in the academy of fine arts under the name of Surikov ( the famous Russian painter ) . There she studied graphics in the faculty of art , and finished her studies in the middle of 1989 , getting the master in fine arts .
Returning to the country , she worked for one year in the organization of interns for peace using the art for developing the relationships between Arabs and Jews .
Hannan Youssef exhibited her paintings in single and common exhibitions . she paints and draws using different techniques :
Pencil , etching , linocut , lithography , water colors , tempra , pastels , oil colors .. and other techniques. Mostly, she uses the oil colors, especially in the last few years.
Single exhibitions:
1) In her village Elaboun in 1991. She exhibited almost 30 graphic works (lithography, etching, water colors, pencil and tempra) of still life and landscapes.
2) The same collection was exhibited in Nazareth in the same year in the center of culture and in the “ democratic women club “ ( in 1991 )
3) The same collection was exhibited again in the town shefaram, in the public center, with the painter from the same town, Jumana Abbud.
4) New oil painting: 13 large paintings were exhibited in the local council in Elaboun at the end of 1996.
5) The same collection of oil paintings was exhibited in the village Tarsheha (the public center) in the beginning of 1997.
6) A new collection of oil paintings in Nazareth in the “center of culture “with the artist Khaleel Rayyan at the end of 1999.
7) The same collection with the same artist was exhibited in Shefaram in the public center in the beginning of 2000.
She also participated in many exhibitions with other painters.

1) In “ Beit Shagal “ in Haifa (1993) , exhibitions for the new members of the Israeli Union for painters and sculptures .
2) In “ Beit Berl “ , exhibitions for one day , with the painters Abed Abedy and Assad Assi , in a celebration of the Rotary Organization as an appreciation for Arab and Jewish writers and painters , who took part in making peace between Arabs and Jews in Israel (in 1993) .
3) In Akre “ public center “ , with a group of Arab women painters ( in 1997 ) .
4) In Shefaram , in the hall of monastery of Nazareth Nuns , with tens of painters ( in 1997 ).
5) In “ Beit Nagler “ , the center of culture , in Kiryat Hayem ( Haifa ) , with three other Jewish women painters and sculptures ( in 1998 ) .

Hannan Youssef also translated four books about art and artists ( painters ) from Russian or English language to Arabic . Tow of them were published in a magazine of art “ tashkil “ which was produced in Ramallah , in the west bank ( Palestine ) .
Hannan wrote many articles about artists or art which were published in different Arab local newspapers .
She has been working for ten years in teaching art in schools , and sometimes , in courses for art in centers of culture .
She became a member of the union of “ Ibdaa “ for Arab painters , four years ago , and participated in many exhibitions with this union , in different towns in our country . for example :
1) “ Sawa “ in “ Beit Shagal “/ Haifa ( and of 2005 )
2) “ Ibdaat “ in public centre in the town “ Baka El – Garbia “ (3-4 / 2004 ) .
3) In culture center in “ Kfar Yassef “ (summer 2005) .

The artist wrote many articles about art and some local artists in local newspapers “ Al – Ittehad “ and “ Kol Al – Arab “ in Arabic .
She also writes articles about political and social subjects . In addition , recently , she published some short stories in Arabic in “ Kol Al-Arab “ newspaper .
She worked for eighteen years in teaching and in culture centers , public centers , schools , and institutes for teachers .
